Singapore - Day 15
I woke up early this morning and headed to Bedok Station to meet up with a Singaporean friend who promised to show me around the non-touristy areas of the country. We ate breakfast at a nearby hawker center where I got to try my first bowl of Mee Soto, a heavily spiced Malay soup noodle. He ended up taking me to East Coast Beach, a vast expanse of white sand and clear waters. The place was absolutely beautiful. The locals set up camping tents all along the stretches of the sand to provide shade from the sun. I wish I had a tent too. The heat was almost unbearable today.

For dinner, we went to Werner's Oven, an authentic German restaurant located in Katong, a culturally rich eastern suburb of the country. We had a warm meal of pork knuckles, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. Yum.
